Featuring a cast of multi-disciplinary dancers and multi-instrumentalists, this production immerses students in an artistic experience that brings culture to life through movement, music, costumes, and participation.

By using audience participation, students become an active part of the cultural fabric that surrounds many of the dances and melodies.

Vinok's Residency is an exciting 5-day program that immerses learners in the beauty of world culture through performance, dance lessons, live music, demonstrations, and accompanying resources.
Day 1: 45 minute performance by Vinok Worldance and live music and costume demonstration.
Days 2-5: students learn a variety of folk dances. Sessions are approximately 30 minutes long per class.
Day 5: Student perform the dances they have learned for the school and parents.
Funding
The Residency is eligible for funding through the Artists and Education Program administered by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. This is designed to support Alberta schools in subsidizing the fees of professional artists from any artistic discipline who provide interactive arts residency projects for grades K-12. It is available to any school operating full-time in Alberta and will cover up to 75% of the artist fee depending on jurisdiction. Find out more here.
This program is geared towards a cross-curricular approach, by incorporating Social Studies and Physical Education and Wellness. Students will learn about the music and life of the cultures they will study in Social Studies, as well as learn traditional dances.
